Emily and Brian were married in an oceanside ceremony in Santa Cruz on July 19. Their wedding had an ocean theme which was carried out in everything from their fun and colorful beach-bag and flip-flop wedding party gifts, to starfish place-cards and to their marine lab venue at the UCSC Seymour Marine Discovery Center, where the ceremony was held overlooking the ocean. There were even marine lab volunteers showing guests starfish and other marine exhibits during the cocktail hour and reception.
To top it off, we photographed Emily an Brian's first look and couple portraits in Santa Cruz harbor on the deck of her father's 34-foot Catalina sailboat. Even though the couple resides in Colorado, Santa Cruz was their favorite choice for a destination wedding. Who can resist the Santa Cruz coastal atmosphere?
It was truly a beautiful day and everyone enjoyed seeing the moving ceremony which included the bride's walk down the aisle on a path leading from the ocean and a sand ceremony. Even the officiant, a friend of the bride's family, was teary-eyed. Guests enjoyed the evening full of fun and dancing and we have to say that it's the first time that we've seen a bride ambushed right before the bouquet toss. You'll see a photo below of Emily's Aunt running up behind her to grab the bouquet.
